For the past year and a half, SusanV, as she's known on her blog, has made a living at it. She has about 125,000 visitors a month, who check in for her latest low-fat vegan recipes and commentary.

"The cutoff is no added oils or margarine or anything like that, and low on other fats, such as nuts and seeds," Voisin says of her recipes. "I do use a little bit of peanut butter and other nut butters and nuts themselves, but no oils at all."

Voisin went the vegetarian route more than two decades ago, while living in Columbia, S.C. "I just always had an empathy for animals, and so that's just sort of the next step, to become a vegetarian," she says.

Sex cues ruin men's decisiveness

Catching sight of a pretty woman really is enough to throw a man's decision-making skills into disarray, a study suggests.

The more testosterone he has, the stronger the effect, according to work by Belgian researchers.

Men about to play a financial game were shown images of sexy women or lingerie.

The Proceedings of the Royal Society B study found they were more likely to accept unfair offers than men not been exposed to the alluring images.

The suggestion is that the sexual cues distract the men's thoughts, preventing them from focusing on their task - particularly among those with high natural testosterone levels.

The University of Leuven researchers gave 176 heterosexual male student volunteers aged 18 to 28 financial games to test their fair play.

LAST Thursday night here in the Telstra Dome, the International rules U17 competition got off to a promising start when Ireland came from 13 points dowm in the last quarter to grab a deserved draw with Australia, 38 points each.

This was the venue for the Ireland-Australia game in the Rugby World Cup a few years ago. Then it was a home from home for Ireland, but this time there were very few Irish in for the game - mainly families of those playing.

With my son Shane involved, it was an opportunity for the rest of my family to go and support. He, along with Pearse Hanley from Mayo, Willie Mulhall from Offaly and Ray Cullivan from Cavan, grabbed valuable scores in that last quarter to level the game.

Cork 1-11 Dublin 1-10: Rebels repel Dublin revival
Michael Foley at Páirc Uí Rinn

A HOME game against Dublin has always been a cherished old poultice, passed down through generations of Cork footballers to help them escape their sick bed. Twenty-three years have now passed since Dublin recorded a win in Cork, and after a difficult start to the League their most recent visit was gratefully availed of by the locals.
By the end of a lively game Cork could count eight scorers and a selection of fine performances on a desperately mucky night. Their defence knitted tightly together and when Dublin started to jab a finger in Cork’s chest midway through the second-half, their composed response was deeply impressive.

Shanghai has been confirmed as host for the 2006 Asian Gaelic Games.
The AGG, one of the fastest growing events in the Asian sporting calender, will take place on October 14-15.
The dates are slightly later than normal, due to the clash with a variety of sporting events in Ireland such as the All-Ireland finals and the Ryder Cup at the K-Club in late September.
